Ikigai
The new composition Ikigai premiered at the 2Worlds_1Sound – Cultural Exchange Concert in The Netherlands on May 16, 2026.
This unique musical encounter brought together East and West in Delft, where the DProject Orchestra welcomed the Japanese Shinobue Ensemble and renowned musician Hiroyuki Koinuma for an inspiring afternoon of cultural exchange.
Ikigai was composed by conductor and composer Marnix Willem Steffen and performed by the DProject Orchestra alongside Sons de Samay (Crystal Singing Bowls). As a special gift, the piece was dedicated to Professor Hiroyuki Koinuma.
